Solutions for Volume Loss

Dermal Fillers In Thousand Oaks, CA

Dermal fillers have quickly built a reputation of being a safe, convenient way to temporarily enhance facial features, restore lost facial volume, and smooth deep creases or scars. These versatile compounds also have the ability to gradually improve the condition of the skin in treated areas by promoting the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin. The team at Aesthetically Yours use dermal fillers to treat specific concerns or incorporate them into a comprehensive liquid facelift.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, like Juvéderm®, contain a viscous gel composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a protein found naturally in the human body that is responsible for strengthening and hydrating our skin and connective tissues. Adverse reactions to dermal fillers are infrequent because HA isn’t a foreign substance; the body doesn’t usually produce an allergic or inflammatory response when hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin because it’s already naturally found there. In most cases, injecting HA improves the condition of skin because as we age, our body’s production of hyaluronic acid decreases. HA aids in the formation of collagen, a companion protein that keeps the skin firm and supple. HA is a great way to combat collagen loss and make the skin more resistant to signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging.

How Do Fillers Work?

When the HA gel is injected into the skin, it smooths and raises the area surrounding the injection site. HA attracts water molecules and binds them to the surface, thus allowing it to amplify fullness in a gentle, natural way. When dermal fillers are injected into deep wrinkles, they fill the creases and lines so that they are no longer visible. Dermal fillers add volume to the lips, cheeks, chin, and nose to help accentuate your features. They’re also a sought-after way to treat age-related facial fat loss, which often creates hollows underneath the eyes and cheekbones. Filling in these hollows can provide a subtle lift to your features by reducing the amount of excess skin around your face.

How?

How Are Dermal Fillers Different from Botox?

Though Botox® and fillers are used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, they work differently from one another. Botox treats dynamic wrinkles (creases that appear when the face is in movement like smiling, frowning, or expressing) by temporarily relaxing specific facial muscles. Fillers treat static wrinkles (creases that are noticeable even when the face is at rest) by filling in the lines and strengthening the skin. If you are not sure whether you need Botox or fillers, schedule a consultation meet with our experts will help you determine the most suitable option based on your goals and concerns.

What Types of Dermal Fillers Can I Choose From?

Dermal fillers are available in various consistencies, from thicker gel formulas ideal for sculpting smaller areas to thinner fillers that can amplify larger areas. The results of fillers usually last for around nine months, though some may last for up to one year depending on how your body metabolizes the product. During your consultation, we will examine your face and help you decide on the best treatment plan for you. Currently, Aesthetically Yours offers several products within the Juvéderm family of fillers:

This nonsurgical filler is used to instantly smooth deeper lines along the sides of your mouth and nose. The skin loses moisture and elasticity with age, contributing to moderate to severe wrinkles and parentheses lines of the mouth and nose. While serums and creams can help moisturize the skin’s surface, Juvederm XC adds volume to smooth these folds and lines to provide the natural-looking, long-lasting results you want.

In clinical trials, Volbella XC has been proven to increase lip fullness and soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth naturally and subtly. Those experiencing age-related volume loss or have naturally thin lips, Volbella can be highly beneficial. The secret behind the success of this lip filler and other Juvéderm fillers is Vycross Technology, a “cross-linked” gel that looks and feels very natural.

Designed for injection into the lips, this filler is a great choice for patients interested in lip augmentation. It works whether your lips have thinned over time or you’d just like them to be fuller. Juvéderm Ultra XC is also approved to correct moderate to severe parentheses lines for a more refreshed appearance that lasts up to one year.

Restylane silk is the thinnest filler offered, which makes it ideal for superficial injections into the fine lines around the mouth and face. It’s also great for adding definition to the lips without increasing volume.

Restylane Lyft is the thickest product and works great for cheek augmentations.

Restylane Refyne is designed to be more stretchy than conventional fillers. This helps to avoid any excess lumpiness that moving your mouth might cause after having fillers while still providing a beautiful fullness. Refyne is an excellent choice for active facial lines and melolabial folds.

Defyne is similar to Refyne, except that it provides more fullness but not as much stretching. It can be used in the same locations as Refyne, but only when the area needs more volume than Refyne can provide.

Kysse is similar to Refyne and Defyne, except that it’s a thinner product. As you can guess by its name, it’s great for areas around the lips to add more volume than Silk yet maintain a natural appearance.

What To Expect from A Thousand Oaks Dermal Filler Treatment

When administering dermal fillers, we will first mark the desired locations on the patient with a pen or removable marker. Then, we will apply an anesthetic cream to the skin so that the patients won’t feel anything during the treatment, allowing them to stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Finally, our injectors will begin injecting small amounts of filler into the areas that require volume enhancement. We are cautious and hyper-aware of over-filling the face, as this can create an unnatural look.

Dermal fillers treatments are generally painless, though some patients have reported a mild tenderness and redness around the injections site after their appointment. These symptoms usually fade away naturally over the next 48 hours. You are free to return to your normal activities immediately after your treatment.

Candidates for Fillers

Dermal fillers are safe for most people, though they aren’t recommended for people with serious health conditions, compromised immune system, any kind of skin infection, or a bleeding disorder. You should also delay your dermal filler injections if you’re pregnant or nursing.

Those who are considering dermal fillers should have moderate to severe signs of aging, such as static wrinkles, deep expression lines, or lost facial volume. For patients looking to enhance their features, noticeable thin lips, small chin, weak jaw, or bumps on the nose are also necessary.

Our highly trained injectors will help you decide which filler is best for your particular condition and goals.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. It has a tremendous ability to attract and retain moisture. When you inject hyaluronic acid for aesthetic reasons, it supports facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to the aging process.

Before your procedure, Dr. Taqi will thoroughly examine your facial appearance and skin tone. Your provider may mark strategic points as injection sites. Dr. Taqi may also snap some photos of the soon-to-be treated area(s). He will clean your face with an antibacterial agent and apply a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. The injections themselves will only require a few minutes. Dr. Taqi will inject, massage, and evaluate the area. If needed, he may use an additional unit of filler to ensure you are completely satisfied with your results.

You will notice immediate results from your dermal filler injections, though it’s essential to remember that the results of HA fillers are temporary. You can expect them to last between six months and a year before your body metabolizes them. You can prolong these results by maintaining good overall health, staying hydrated, and using the appropriate products for your skin type.

A “liquid facelift” is a nickname for a combination of Botox and dermal fillers. When combined, these two products smooth facial wrinkles while simultaneously adding volume back to your skin. Many people choose a liquid facelift over the old-fashioned surgical one, because dermal fillers and Botox are minimally invasive and require no incisions, sutures, or downtime.

Dermal fillers are substances that are injected into the skin to address volume loss, correct asymmetry, fill in deep lines and/or enhance one’s natural features.

There are many types of dermal fillers available.  Most commonly (Juvaderm and Restalyne) are made of hyaluronic acid, which is found abundantly and naturally in the body. These give an immediate plumping effect to the skin, correct lines, fill in areas that need volume and give a more hydrated look to lips.

Other fillers like Scultptra contain an ingredient called poly-L-lactic acid which boosts collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin and it is what gives our skin structure and support. Like most great things, results are not immediate like with hyaluronic fillers. This product works by tricking your own body into producing more collagen which takes about 3 months, but results can last up to 2 years!

Unlike neuromodulators, which can address wrinkles caused by movement, dermal fillers address volume loss that is often associated with visual signs of aging. They can be used to improve the appearance of thin lips, shallow contours, deep facial lines and wrinkles, and scars.

Results vary, depending on the type of filler used but typically full results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

We use a topical numbing on the skin before we inject to minimize any discomfort felt during your procedure. Most dermal fillers also have a numbing agent mixed into the formula to minimize any pain as well.  With proper technique our patients are very comfortable and relaxed.

Minimal downtime is required with dermal fillers. Most commonly, patients may have some redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising. These symptoms may vary from person to person and may last anywhere from 3-7 days.  Most patients can cover the area with makeup after 24 hours.

Side effects are usually mild and resolve on their own within a few days.  These can include redness, tenderness, bruising and swelling at the injection site.  Some more serious side effects can occur and will be discussed in more detail at your appointment.

Yes! Choosing the right type of filler as well as technique plays a large role in your overall result.  In fact, dermal filler chosen wisely and injected strategically can give you a natural, well rested and overall, more youthful appearance.

The filler you need to achieve your desired look will depend on many factors. Each filler has a different firmness and is allocated for different areas of the face.  We will talk with you to discuss which kind of fillers would be appropriate for you at your consultation.

Some areas include pitted acne scars, glabellar lines, nasolabial folds, vertical lip lines, lips, marionette lines Lifts, cheeks, and jawline.
